About Us

«Chilpaya» is a wild chili pepper that reminds us of our own experiences in the countryside of Veracruz. While we were ending our exhausting day of labor, lunchtime was always preceded by this chili pepper that made us blush because of its unique, hot, and tasty flavor. Thus, our roots are coming from Alvarado, Veracruz, a privileged place where the Papaloapan river, the Alvarado lagoon and the Gulf of Mexico are located, a site where pirates would use for hiding and «jarochas» would be tap dancing along the sound of the harp, the strum of the jaranas (local guitar) the blow of the wind…

There is always a verse, there is always a saying that exalts the beauty of its people, their joy of life and their laughter which cheers up any soul. A meeting place between the old continent and a prodigious land that has fed culture with the joy of its music and with its marvelous and unique cuisine. This is our beloved land, where our grandmothers learned how to make the best out of those wonderful seafood products that nature provided them along with the Chilpaya chili pepper to create our own family recipes.

Alvarado, Veracruz, is known for its lively people who smile at the sun while the fishing rods vibrates with the wind and catches their generous seafood which, later, will be on their tables.

So, Tampa and Veracruz have a lot in common, and we have much more to share… Tampa and Veracruz, sister cities, soul mates!

Tried this new spot today. Everything was so tasty. We got the octopus tacos and ceviche. Very fresh and refreshing and unique flavors- a good summer treat. The truck and outside area are really cute and the owners were super friendly. Also the portions were great!
